The Sega Dreamcast was among the most successful gaming consoles on the market. There were many interesting games available for it, which makes it sad, because the console was discontinued in 2001. The good news is that you can still find ROMs for all the good games from that era and play them on your computer. For this, you will need an emulator, such as Redream. This simple application lets you load and play Dreamcast games without any difficulties. It doesn't burden you with any complicated options and settings, so you can just import your games and play them right away.

Redream is offered completely free of charge and it can be used on any modern Windows, Mac or Linux platforms. The application comes as a single executable, so you don't have to go through an installation process, but you will want to store it in its own folder, because the application will create additional files when you run it. The hardware requirements are modest and you don't have to install any prerequisite tools or services.

The clean and simple design of the user interface allows you to import and play your games in no time, without any kind of difficulties. Imported games are displayed as disc covers, directly on the main window, and you only need to click a cover to run its corresponding game. You can import new ROMs and make a few simple settings on the same interface, but on separate tabs.

If you keep your ROMs in a local folder, you only need to browse for that folder, on Redream's interface, and the games will be imported right away. Additionally, you can set the application to full screen, change its aspect ratio and choose a polygon sort accuracy mode. Furthermore, the application supports different languages, as well as several broadcast and cable standards.

The best part about Redream is that it doesn't require a controller. You can use your keyboard to play any games. Of course, most emulators let you play with the keyboard, but Redream feels much more responsive when you play like this. What's more, it uses the popular WASD layout by default, which is popular among most gamers. On the other hand, if you wish to use a controller, you can select it and customize it in the application's Inputs panel.

Redream gives you the possibility of reliving the good old days, when you were playing all those great games on the Sega Dreamcast.

Pros

You can import ROMs and play your games quickly and easily. Redream supports keyboard input and it uses the WASD configuration by default. The application is lightweight, it doesn't ask for any supplementary tools and it doesn't use too many resources.

Cons

There are no obvious drawbacks to address.
